April 2023

Kia ora,

I hope you are having a lovely holiday and have had the chance to rest and reset after what is always a busy term one.

I have had a wonderful time at home catching up on the garden and jobs around the house. Being able to just take things at our own pace and having more one-on-one time with my own children is always a highlight of my holidays.

I have been getting ready to take part in the Clutha HPE conference which is happening this Thursday. The team at Sport Otago have put together an amazing day of wellbeing, sport and all things health and PE which I am very much looking forward to being part of.

The new online course for educators around The Classroom Connections Project is on it’s way! This course is aimed at delving deeper into the science behind this project and gives educators the opportunity to apply this science in their own lives as well as in their classrooms. If you are interested in taking part in this course head to www.beingeducation.co.nz to register your interest. Also, if you work with anyone that you think would be interested please pass this on to them.

This month I wanted to share the Vision and Values of Being Education with you.

My vision for Being Education - Learning to Flourish is to empower educators in aiding children to realise their unlimited potential and abilities. To inspire education to include learning about who we are in order to make better decisions about what we do.

My hope is that this is achieved through the values of:

Integrity - be open and transparent. Completing our work because we truly believe it is to the benefit of all beings in Aotearoa and beyond.

Humanity - we are all connected and therefore all actions have an effect on humanity as a whole. We are intrinsically linked.

Gratitude - we are grateful to be able to provide these resources and support to the kaiako and tamariki of Aotearoa. We are grateful for the opportunity to be here at this time of the Earth’s evolution to help enable change.

Respect - for all being on our planet and their ability to flourish in our collective environment.

Well, that is all from me for now. Enjoy this last week of holidays and the start of term two.

May it be one full of connection for you and your tamariki.

Nga mihi,

Natalie
