Welcome to Being Education – Where the Journey to Positive Education Begins

Being Education was born from a deeply personal journey—one shaped by loss, self-discovery, and an unwavering belief that education must do more than teach; it must nurture.

Growing up in a household that embraced alternative ideas, I learned early on that life holds a deeper meaning. But it wasn't until the birth of my son in 2013 that I truly began to question the traditional markers of success. Choosing to extend my maternity leave was more than just a practical decision—it was a turning point. I realised that balance, happiness, and well-being were not just ideals but necessities.

Then, life delivered some of its hardest lessons. The passing of my father was a stark reminder of how unprepared we can be to cope with grief and adversity. In my search for answers, I turned to life coaching, meditation, and mindfulness training, unknowingly stepping into a path that would define my purpose. When my mother passed away soon after, these very techniques became my lifeline. In those moments of profound loss, I saw with absolute clarity the power of well-being practices—how they help us heal, build resilience, and move forward.

But this isn’t just my story. This is the story of our time. We are facing a mental health crisis. Anxiety, depression, and burnout are at all-time highs among young people. As an educator for 20 years—spanning early childhood, primary, and secondary education—I have seen firsthand the struggles our children face. It became painfully clear to me that something must change.

The turning point came at a well-being conference in Christchurch, where I was introduced to Positive Education—the missing piece I had been searching for. It validated what I had always believed: that education should not just be about knowledge but about equipping students with the tools to thrive in life. Inspired and determined, I created The Classroom Connections Project—a holistic, research-backed resource designed to seamlessly integrate well-being practices into classrooms.

Being Education: A New Vision for Learning

Being Education is not just a platform; it is a movement—a call to action for educators, parents, and anyone who believes that the well-being of our youth is not optional. The Classroom Connections Project is at the heart of this initiative, structured around self, others, and the wider world. It offers a range of tools, strategies, and practical techniques that honour different learning styles and empower students to develop resilience, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence.

Our mission is simple but urgent: to transform education from a system that reacts to problems into one that prevents them. We cannot afford to be the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff. We must build a foundation of well-being from the very start.

Join us on this journey. Together, we can reshape education—one positive connection at a time. Explore the insights, tools, and techniques we offer to create classrooms where students don’t just learn, but truly flourish.

Welcome to Being Education—where learning meets well-being, and where the future of education begins.
